My Life's Musical Journey... First Album

After a few months of constant practice, arranging and recording, I had sufficient content to formulate an album. Possessing insufficient funds to manufacture a CD, I made a master cassette and dubbed off a hundred copies. My predicament however was what to title the album and its tracks. When I was shuffling through my papers one day, I found that prayer, read it again, and there within the lines were all the titles to the pieces I had been writing for the last eight months.

I called the album 'The Castle of My Dreams' and on it was...

  • The Silent Hills of Childhood
  • Hear My Voice
  • A Reason for Living
  • The Changing Years
  • Walking Calmly In My Path
  • From Love to Loneliness
  • Dreaming On The Margin Of A Quiet River
  • The Castle of My Dreams
  • The Twilight Years
  • Farewell Old Friend
  • The Tunnel of Light.
  • I designed the labels and the cover assembling them all, one by one, which took about 150 hours.

My problem then was what to do with them. So I rang the local radio station and announced, on air, my achievement. To my astonishment I received 60 calls in the next few hours. By the weekend I had sold the lot, necessitating in my having to run off another 100 copies to meet demand!

That album of my music was entitled 'The Castle of My Dreams' and it set the foundation stone for my new career as a composer. Alas, my dreams and aspirations of becoming an overnight success were frustrated by a lack of funds to market and advertise my music.
